Meet the Filmmakers at ASFF 2013

It was fantastic to see so many of you at our Meet the Filmmakers event at ASFF last night! Tony Earnshaw, film critic for the Yorkshire Post and BBC Radio Leeds led the discussion and the evening was a sparkling display of talent, with filmmakers from all corners of the globe talking about their films and the process of creating a short. The directors included were Curt Apduhan of Anniversary, Saera Jin of Konnichiwa Brick Lane, Prano Bailey-Bond of Man Vs Sand and Fran Peterson of Laura Jean: Mechanical Friends.

The event took place in the Yorkshire Museum, nestled in the Museum Gardens, a stunning collection of plants and trees around the ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey on the edge of the River Ouse. It is just one of the gorgeous venues that is partnered with the festival: we’ve got 15 in total and they’re all stunning examples of York’s varied and iconic architecture. There’s still time left for you to explore the different locations: why not make your way to Barley Hall today to catch some of our documentary strand? You can stop off for a bite to eat along Stonegate or Low Petergate on the way. Then head over to the New Schoolhouse Gallery to watch some incredible artists’ film.

The Hub is open 10am – 4pm today for tickets and information. Tonight is our Award Ceremony so make sure that you’ve voted for your favourite film to win the People’s Choice Award! Voting ballots are available at every venue and voting closes at midday today. See you tonight!
