The Aesthetica Team

Cherie Federico, Managing Director & Editor

Cherie thinks the art of conversation is truly important. She enjoys good coffee, nice people, travelling, speaking foreign languages, art exhibitions, gigs, films and walks in the countryside. Her favourite place that she’s visited is a little town in southern Italy. One of her favourite films is Il Postino.

Dale Donley, Production Director

Dale has a passion for art and photography, design and linguistics. He loves work that communicates ideas and challenges perceptions. He enjoys listening to new bands, watching films and reading fiction. In the future, he wants to own a plot of land and grow his own food.

Bruce Corrie, Director

When he was younger, Bruce travelled extensively around the US, which had a major impact on his life. He enjoys poetry and creative entrepreneurialism. He also has a passion for independent filmmaking, historical achitecture and documentaries that record the lives of people.

Bethany Rex, Media Coordinator

Bethany received her BA in Art History, French and English from Durham University in 2009. She is specifically interested in critical theory; the representation of trauma and terrorism in contemporary art and film; and in the implications of an over reliance on dominant theories of visual perception.

Grace Henderson, Media Relations Coordinator

Grace studied English and Film Studies at the University of Hull and had a wonderful time learning about modern Hollywood cinema, the great British classics, the films of leading Japanese directors and seminal documentaries among other treasures. She sometimes feels that she was born in the wrong era, such is her love of 1940s and 50s style and glamour, and black and white Hollywood oldies such as Some Like it Hot and Now, Voyager. Balancing this out somewhat are her interests in alternative music, contemporary fiction, modern décor and design, and the internet age. Grace’s perfect evening would involve Thai food, good wine and going to the theatre. One of her major ambitions is to tread the boards again herself as part of an amateur dramatic society.

Helena Culliney, Marketing Officer
Helena is a Masters graduate in English Literature, and has attended both the University of York and the University of Cambridge during her protracted academic studies. Having narrowly escaped a career in academia, she now enjoys entertaining frivolous critical interests in a variety of subjects surrounding audience experience, social subversion in early comedy, and the development of popular culture. In her spare time, Helena sings in a comedy a cappella group, and enjoys innovative theatre, black and white film, and fancy baking. She is a firm believer in the healing properties of a piece of cake and a gin and tonic.

Alexis Smith, Finance Officer

Alexis enjoys entertaining guests and considers herself to be a social butterfly. She enjoys creative writing and would like to write a book. She also loves music and plays trombone in a ska band.
