Compassionate Documentation

Neil Libbert has been working as a street photographer and photojournalist for nearly 60 years. Michael Hoppen Gallery, London, offers the first opportunity to see the full range of works accumulated over this imaginative and productive time period, including  a number of previously unseen prints such as West Indian Arrivals, Waterloo Station, 1961 or Outside the Blackie Art Centre, Liverpool, 1973. Having travelled extensively during the 1950s and 1960s, the images translate different worlds through the lens and demonstrate an ineffable sense of passion to capture a radically changing world.
