May Parlar

New York-based May Parlar is a photography and video artist creating visual narratives exploring identity, belonging and time. Of particular interest is the examination of the self via performing in constructed realities, which are perpetually transformed, warped and deconstructed in her images.

In the ongoing series Collective Solitude she creates self-portraits exploring the nomadic experience of being, playing with the concepts of multiplicities and interconnectedness.

Parlar’s work has been exhibited and screened internationally, including in New York, London, Berlin, Rome and Barcelona.
