Shaw’s practice hovers in a place between figuration and non-figuration, allowing the viewer to have their own interpretation. Two minutes to midnight was inspired by the writings of the political linguist Noam Chomsky, including his musings on the symbolic Doomsday clock influence the piece, as well as the danger of the Trump presidency.
