A Sense of Stillness

Next Generation is an annual collaboration with London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. The 2019 August / September issue of Aesthetica marks the sixth instalment – featuring seven new talents entering the photographic sphere.

Featured above is Beatriz Oliveira. Nature is a vital component, demonstrating a sensitivity to the seasons, and a  relation to the human experience. The featured project looks at the idea of stillness and ennui across various people, locations and contexts. As the artist notes: “We live in a society obsessed with speed. I felt I needed to explore slowness as a visual meditation.”
