One & Other: Aesthetica Art Prize Announces £5,000 Main Prize

The Aesthetica Art Prize is an opportunity to advance your profile on the international art scene and is open to all artists worldwide. We welcome entries from all age ranges and experience levels, from upcoming talents to established practitioners. One & Other highlights the opportunities presented by the 2015 Aesthetica Art Prize awards.

The Aesthetica Art Prize 2015 is now open for entries. As well as editorial coverage, the Main prize winner will receive £5000 prize money, providing them with career-boosting opportunities. A new partnership between Hiscox and Aesthetica Art Prize has allowed for the substantial increase in prize money. The Aesthetica Art Prize celebrates excellence in art and offers artists from around the globe the opportunity to showcase their work to wider audiences and further their involvement in the international art world.

Along with the prize money, the talented winner will be given editorial coverage in Aesthetica Magazine, which has a readership of 168,000 worldwide. Finalists will also be given this coverage, and the winner, finalists and those who make the longlist will be featured in the the Aesthetica Art Prize Anthology, which is distributed in major UK galleries. In addition there will also be a £1000 Student Prize and up to £250 art materials and books to be won.

Last year’s winner of the Aesthetica Art Prize, Sybille Neumeyer, commented on the opportunities presented for engaging with new audiences: “I feel honoured because it means that I’m reaching more people. It’s important not only for an artist to have a message but equally to have ways of connecting with people too”.

The Art Prize recognises innovation, reflection on the modern day, and audience engagement. Judges will be looking for innovative artwork that excites or challenges whilst demonstrating technical skill and ability. Artists may submit their work into any one of the four categories: Photographic & Digital Art; Three Dimensional Design & Sculpture; Painting & Drawing, and Video, Installation & Performance. The finalists will be featured in a group exhibition in Spring 2014 and the winners will be announced at the exhibition opening.

Winning the Art Prize can really boost an artist’s career. Previous winners include Ingrid Hu, former designer at the Lubetkin-winning Heatherwick Studio, and Julia Vogl, also shortlisted for New Sensations at the Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4′s Prize and has exhibited at Zabludowicz Collection.

Judge for the Aesthetica Art Prize and Director of Aesthetica Magazine Cherie Federico says: “It is a rare opportunity for artists at this stage in their career to receive this sum of money in addition to a group exhibition and publication in an anthology of 100 top international artists. The Art Prize will support their continued development and their progression in the art world internationally.”

The Aesthetica Art Prize submission deadline is 31 August. For more information and to enter visit www.aestheticamagazine.com/artprize.
