Aesthetica Creative Writing Award: Now Open for Entries

Now in its ninth year, the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award is open for entries and is looking for new writing talent. The award celebrates excellence in poetry and short fiction, and welcomes submissions from both emerging and established artists.

The Award champions and supports creative talent by creating a platform for writers to showcase their work to new, international audiences. A selection of over 50 finalists are selected for publication within the Aesthetica Creative Writing Annual, a compelling collection of works that consider a vast range of themes and subject matter.

There are also two winners, one for Poetry and one for Short Fiction. The poetry winner will receive a Full Membership to The Poetry Society. The Poetry Society is the leading poetry organisation in the UK. For over a hundred years it has been a lively and passionate source of energy and ideas, whose work ranges from publishing The Poetry Review and hosting acclaimed national poetry competitions, to developing educational work and commissioning a packed calendar of performances and readings. Being a member of The Poetry Society means joining thousands of other people making a deeper connection with poetry and the poetry world.

The Short Fiction winner will be awarded a consultation with literary agent Peter Cox. He is managing director of the London-based literary agency Redhammer.  As one of the most experienced agents in the business, he has brokered publishing, film and television deals for many acclaimed fiction and non-fiction authors, including worldwide bestselling novelist Michelle Paver, Linda McCartney, Senator Orrin Hatch, Martin Bell OBE, authors MG Harris, Mal Peet and editor of The Sun David Yelland.  His movie deals include films with Sir Ridley Scott and many other producers.

The winners will also receive £500 prize money, a subsection to Granta and a selection of books courtesy of Vintage and Bloodaxe Books to continue to inspire their creative writing.

The Aesthetica Creative Writing Award is open for entries until 31 August 2016. For submission guidelines and to enter, visit www.aestheticamagazine.com/cwa
