Vote in the Aesthetica Art Prize and Win an Exclusive Evening in York

Aesthetica is inviting the people of Yorkshire to cast their vote for the Aesthetica Art Prize People’s Choice Award this spring. Following on from the initial success of the exhibition, Aesthetica is giving visitors the opportunity to choose their winner. Additionally, voters are entered into the Free Prize Draw with a chance of winning an exclusive evening in York, including a meal for two at Le Cochon Aveugle, cinema tickets for Reel and champagne cocktails at 1331.

Organised by Aesthetica Magazine, the international art and culture publication, in partnership with York Museums Trust the Art Prize brings international contemporary artwork to the city of York in a dynamic and accessible exhibition at York St Mary’s – York Art Gallery’s contemporary art space. Now in its second year, the exhibition presents a great opportunity for the people of Yorkshire to engage with something new and exciting.

With shortlisted pieces in photography, painting and drawing to three dimensional design, sculpture and film, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The medieval backdrop of York St Mary’s provides an exceptional setting for the exhibition, inspiring a new conversation between the historic and the contemporary. Audiences are invited to interact with the show; one exhibit is a musical sculpture that can be played; others project into the space and welcome viewers to walk through and around them.

To celebrate the launch of the Aesthetica Art Prize People’s Choice Award, the winner will be treated to a truly unique dining experience at one of York’s most finest restaurants Le Cochon Aveugle, amongst other prizes. The Prize Draw Winner and the People’s Choice Award winning artist will be announced on 1 July. Voting can only take place in the gallery and ends 22 June.

Integrating modern artwork with York’s rich heritage, the Aesthetica Art Prize is a unique show – and with the opportunity for the people of Yorkshire to participate and win a fantastic prize, it is a must see exhibition this spring. Art Talks and family activities run alongside the exhibition, presenting many great ways to enhance the experience of the Aesthetica Art Prize.
