“The tree can be seen as a metaphor for migration.” A recent publication by Hatje Cantz tracks the work of Yan Wang Preston, whose long-term photography project along the Yangtze river identifies uprooted trees that now reside in concrete deserts, questioning the meaning of home whilst engaging with timely social and ecological narratives.
