Responsive Simulation

Responsive Simulation

John Gerrard’s Solar Reserve, a recent acquisition by Los Angeles County Museum of Art, recreates a solar thermal power plant in Nevada through new media.

The digital simulation is programmed to respond to the site’s real time conditions, continuously changing in relation to the sun, moon and stars.

Both ecologically and historically responsive, the piece explores the legacy of energy consumption whilst looking to the future of the Earth’s natural resources.

Until 3 September. Find out more here.
