Zhou is driven by a desire to make people aware of their surroundings – both the physical and the psychological. For Midtown Flutter, the artist photographed a variety of buildings in midtown Manhattan, allowing passers-by to interrupt the shot. Documenting ritualistic moments of urbanity, Zhou then rearranged these images into a metaphorical collage of the metropolis.
