Cartmill is interested in the feeling that a weathered or worn surface exudes. Resonance III examines the possibilities of what materials offer. Layers were often worn through mirroring the passage of time, offering glimpses of an unfolding story through the making of the work itself – the paper ultimately becoming more than an object.
