Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, explores the iconic artistic landscape of the 1980s through a collection of subversive works. By tracking the development of the artist-as-brand in New York, the exhibitions reveals how a group of pioneering practitioners used the new language of consumer culture to make powerful statements about the contemporary state-of-play.
