Imaginary Landscapes

Imaginary Landscapes

Bridging the boundaries between analogue and digital techniques, Douglas Mandry’s Equivalences at Bildhalle, Zürich, invites audiences into unique visual worlds. Observations of nature blend with a rich imagination, offering experimental compositions awash with vibrant colour.

Mirjam Kooiman of Foam Museum, Amsterdam, explains: “By coloring his landscape shots, Douglas Mandry no longer brings reality into the picture, but rather breaks it down by focusing on the creative process. Mandry colours his landscapes, bringing new layers to the image plane based on his own memories. He is not dissimilar to the painter, who also makes his sketches of a place into a painting in the studio.”

The exhibition opens 4 October. Find out more here.
