fotofever paris

On 13 November the Carrousel du Louvre will welcome the fourth edition of fotofever paris, a dynamic meeting-point for today’s contemporary photography scene. Established by Cécile Schall in 2011, fotofever shares its founder’s philosophy in sharing and building on the growing thirst to collect one of the art market’s most innovative and exciting mediums. Taking place across three-days, the fair brings together a diverse range artists, collectors and enthusiasts.

This year fotofever invites over 100 galleries from across the world to showcase exciting work by both established and emerging photographers. Key exhibitors in 2015 include a high proportion of Japanese galleries such as Emon Photo Gallery, nap gallery, Zen Foto Gallery and tezukayama gallery, as well as a promising selection of international newcomers – most notably the Lumiere Brothers Gallery, which constitutes the most important private collection of Russian photography, FELD+HAUS from Frankfurt and ZOXX Gallery from the Netherlands.

French exhibitors include GALERIE RIVIERE / FAIVELEY, Paris, presenting images by Bruno Fontana and Isabelle & Alexis; La micro galerie, Paris, with a solo show by Solène Ballesta; newcomer galerie annie gabrielli, Montpellier; and Les Bains Révélateurs, Roubaix, showcasing the talents of Jean-Michel André. ROMBERG Photo from Latina will also be celebrating the work of emerging Italian artists.

Elsewhere, fotocollection: a private collection returns to the fair with a selection of photographic works on loan from Galila Barzilaï Hollander. Following For Galila Eyes only in 2012 and Cash in 2014, fotocollection sees 25 photographic works and five readymade pieces respond to the theme of the ‘chair’. Meanwhile, the annual fotoprize highlights future talents emerging from French art schools. For its fourth edition artist Juliette-Andréa Elie’s Fading Landscapes series has been selected from over 60 candidates. Inspired by her travels, Elie reveals how one’s memories influences the surrounding landscape.

An opportunity for new collectors to begin their journey is available in start to collect: a path to initiate, offering a selection of artworks priced at less than 1000€, and a fresh insight into current practices is examined in Exhibition to view: DANS LA RUE, featuring a selection of images taken through the lens of renowned photographers by Agathe Gaillard and Exhibition for sale: PRESENT, which offers up a distinct showcase by art collective Tendance Floue.
