Emerging Talent

Personal, political and offering fresh perspectives, the FR Awards 2019 return to The Truman Brewery, London. Showcasing exhibitions by three winning art and photography graduates, the initiative provides a platform for the next generation of talent.

Selected artists include Zimbabwe-born fine artist Jasper Pedyo, whose large-scale constructions in Lost in the Sauce blur the lines between sculpture and painting. Bold and contrasting colours create striking, abstracted shapes free from recognisable imagery.

Featured above is imagery by Cole Flynn Quirke, whose autobiographical series experiments with film, sound and collage. Compiled following his grandmother’s death, A Bird Flies Backwards explores ideas of existence, transition and change.

Similarly poignant are installations by London-based artist Polly Evans, who uses video, sound and spoken word to engage with political and social issues in contemporary Britain. No Man Is an Island looks to the economic landscape, questioning notions of division in the UK.

The show runs 7-14 February. Find out more here.
