“Colour is both subjective and objective. We can study its physical aspects: wavelength, type of radiation, receptors. On the other hand, its individual character depends on our experiences and sensitivity.”
Magda Kmiecik moved to Belgium to study her Masters in Photography at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Now based in New York, she creates images that are akin to an unexpected turn of phrase.
Combining detailed forms with an experimentation between light and colour, her photographs play with the concept of visibility and the spaces in-between. Bricks, tape and paper feature in each considered scenario.
