The Other Art Fair 2015

The UK’s leading artist fair has announced the details of its line-up for April 2015. Now in its eighth edition, The Other Art Fair opens on 23 April at its new location in Bloomsbury, London. The new venue, Victoria House, will provide 22,000 sq. ft. of space for an extended live programme and more opportunties for rising stars of the art world to showcase their work to the public.

This April’s fair will feature a collaboration between House of Fairy Tales (HOFT) and artist Gavin Turk, who will also be the special guest artist. The pairing will be producing two specially commisioned editions for the fair, with sales of this work supporting the educational work of HOFT. Younger visitors to the event will also have the opportunity on the Saturday to become an art reporter for the day with an art magazine about the fair made by children– the HOFT Examiner– as part of a special appearance by HOFT.

Gavin Turk will be joined by industry experts including Stephanie Buck, Curator of Drawings at The Courtald Gallery, as part of TOAF’s selection committee. The event has already received 700 applications for the fair, and from these applicants 120 artists who will be invited to exhibit their work. Artists already confirmed for the event include acclaimed collage artist Dan Hillier, who has already exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, ICA and the Louvre.

Part of the line-up for TOAF’s June and October editions have also been revealed by Fair Director Ryan Stanier. Renouned Urban artist SICKBOY is set to feature as the special guest artist for the new Bristol event in June, whilst October’s London edition of the fair at Truman Brewery will include a collaboration with popular comedian and artist Noel Fielding.

Founded in November 2011, TOAF has become a firmly established alternative art event, receiving media attention for its unique premise of championing individual artists. The fair counts representatives from some of London’s most influential contemporary art galleries, including Christies and Frith Street Gallery, among its regular visitors. For 2015 The Other Art Fair will run at Victoria House, London, 23 – 26 April; Arnolfini, Bristol, 5 – 7 June and at the Old Truman Brewery, London, 15 – 18 October.
