Aesthetica Creative Writing Award Call for Entries: Prizes for 2016

Now in its 10th year, the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award is currently open for entries presenting an opportunity for emerging and established writers to enter their written work for a chance to win publication in the Aesthetica Creative Writing Annual 2017.

The Annual champions outstanding new writing, and features 60 poems and short stories alongside biographies of the shortlisted writers and the winner from each category. The publication is a compelling collection of a range of themes and subject matter from writers across the world. It also contains an introduction to each category from Short Fiction Judge Arifa Akbar and Poetry Judge Dr Oz Hardwick, providing contextualisation and interpretation of the current literary landscape.

The Short Fiction winner will also receive a consultation with Peter Cox, Managing Director of the London-based literary agency Redhammer. As one of the most experienced agents in the business, he has brokered publishing, film and television deals for many acclaimed fiction and non-fiction authors, including worldwide bestselling novelist Michelle Paver, Linda McCartney, Senator Orrin Hatch, Martin Bell OBE, authors MG Harris, Mal Peet and editor of The Sun David Yelland.  His movie deals include films with Sir Ridley Scott and many other producers.

The prize for the Poetry Winner is a Full Membership to The Poetry Society, the leading poetry organisation in the UK. For over a hundred years it has been a lively and passionate source of energy and ideas, whose work ranges from publishing The Poetry Review and hosting acclaimed national poetry competitions, to developing educational work and commissioning a packed calendar of performances and readings. Being a member of The Poetry Society means joining thousands of other people making a deeper connection with poetry and the poetry world.

Each winner will also receive £500 prize money, and a selection of books from Vintage (Short Ficition Winner) and from Bloodaxe Books (Poetry Winner) to inspire future writing projects. Vintage is the story of the greatest writers from around the globe and across the ages, inventing new worlds and exploring our own – from Philip Roth, Haruki Murakami and Alice Munro to Ian McEwan, Simon Schama, Jeanette Winterson, J. M. Coetzee and Salman Rushdie.

Internationally renowned for quality in literature and excellence in book design, our authors and books have won virtually every major literary award given to poetry, from the T.S. Eliot Prize and Pulitzer to the Nobel Prize.

Granta, also offers each winner a one-year subscription. From Nobel laureates to debut novelists, international translations to investigative journalism, each issue of Granta turns the attention of the world’s best writers onto the way we live now.
