The Aesthetica Art Prize is open for entries for its 2017/18 edition. Currently accepting submissions until 31 August, the Prize is an opportunity for international practitioners to showcase their work to wider audiences. A plethora of media is welcomed by the award, as are projects from both emerging and established artists. Artists are invited to enter the competition as many times as they wish, bolstering their chances of being selected as one of our top 100 practitioners in 2018.

Our diverse Judging Panel selects the winning works from a shortlist, making the Prize an ideal opportunity to gain industry exposure. We reflect on the former panel for 2016/17 as we gear up for next year. Whitney Hintz, an Independent Advisor and Curator of the Hiscox Collection, manages the Hiscox Collection, which comprises approximately 600 works on display across the company’s 30 offices in the UK, Europe and USA.

In addition to overseeing the Hiscox Collection and advising private clients, Whitney is a board member of the Crossrail Arts Programme and Sculpture in the City, an annual outdoor public sculpture exhibition located within the City of London’s Square Mile. She is also a consultant for the Kenneth Armitage and Eduardo Paolozzi Foundations, and was previously Associate Director at Frith Street Gallery where she worked on projects at Venice Biennale and Tate Britain.

There are two awards for entry: the Main Art Prize and the Emerging Art Prize. The Emerging Art Prize is open to current students and artists who have graduated within the last two years. The Main Art Prize is open to all, including those eligible for the Emerging Art Prize. Prizes include up to £5,000 for the winner; participation in a group exhibition hosted by Aesthetica; editorial coverage in Aesthetica Magazine; publication in Future Now: 100 Contemporary Artists for both longlisted and shortlisted artists; £250 art supplies vouchers courtesy of Winsor & Newton; and art books courtesy of Prestel.
