Based in Toronto, Nathan Cyprys’ previous works have often explored our relationship to the natural environment, with visual topics including the wider cosmos, deep time and geological records.
In the featured series, Neighbour State, Cyprys considers the American landscape through the curiosity of a Canadian perspective. Growth and decay rise to the surface, sitting side-by-side in a nation peppered by tourist attractions.
Taking a near-birds-eye perspective, the images present figures on the large-scale, staring into canyons and the Mojave with intriguing depth of field. Cyprys’ work has been published in The Washington Post, American Photographyand PDN Magazine, amongst others.
