Catherine Hyland’s images capture Essex’s modernist architecture, reflecting upon the position of these structures within the county’s social and urban landscape. An exhibition at Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea, displays these photographs alongside images of seaside resorts, highlighting utopian ideals. Hyland’s work is also featured in Cornerhouse Publications’ new book, Radical Essex.
