The Other Art Fair, London

The Spring edition of The Other Art Fair is here. Running 25 – 28 April, the fair is an artist-led event, designed to give artists the opportunity to curate individual stands from which to directly sell their work to the public. This approach allows creatives, art-lovers and buyers to communicate and forge lasting relationships that serve to benefit the artist and the collector. The fair has quickly gained a reputation as one of the best locations for collectors to find undiscovered talent who are yet to gain gallery representation. Using a selection committee of industry experts, the 100 participating artists are handpicked to showcase the best emerging talent globally.

The Other Art Fair runs twice a year, and the last installment during autumn 2012 saw a significant increase in sales as well as numerous artists being commissioned to create new works by commercial and private benefactors. For the spring edition, the selection committee includes Turner Prize nominee Yinka Shonibare MBE, art critic and prize-winning journalist Laura McLean-Ferris, and international curator and dealer Mila Askarova. Beginning in 2011, The Other Art Fair has evolved as a platform focused on London-based artists to an event that attracts worldwide applicants from France, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Puerto Rico and beyond. For the fair running this April over 80% of participating artists are new, meaning audiences will get a fresh and exciting experience.

The layout is set up to promote an inclusive environment and alongside the main fair there will be a further series of informative activities. There will be an eclectic programme of events including live music, film screenings, the Kids Create programme and a cocktail bar. Combining music, video, theatre and visual art, The Other Art Fair presents some unique performances, while The Others Talk series is an informative walk by Jotta around the fair. Photo 15 celebrates the best 15 unrepresented photographers from across the globe, and 100 Mothers is a curated installation inspired by Mothers Day and put together by Harry Pye. And Mo Coppoletta tattoos live, using four new brand new designs that will be available for visitors to select.

With plenty to choose from on the programme and an outstanding line up of artists, The Other Art Fair is a must for art lovers, collectors and artists alike.
