Future Shock examines our dynamic and decisive moment in global history and looks to the challenges and possibilities of the future. Through a series of works by 10 international artists, the exhibition articulates the profound impact of the acceleration of technological, social and structural change upon contemporary life. Its title is drawn from Alvin Toffler’s 1970s book, in which he describes the exhilaration and consequences of our rapidly advancing world. Featured artists include Tom Sachs, Doug Aitken, Patrick Bernatchez, Andreas Gursky and Lynn Hershman Leeson.
