SCOPE: Emerging Talent

SCOPE: Emerging Talent

Celebrating its 11th anniversary in Basel, SCOPE returns to the city in a location situated within walking distance of Art Basel at Messeplatz. Under the new name of SCOPE Haus, the venue secures the art fair’s future in Basel as a long term investment in the city’s rich culture. Coinciding with Art Basel, the fair provides visitors with a wide spectrum of work by emerging artists and galleries. A total of 70 galleries will exhibit in its International Exhibitors section, while 10 will participate in the Breeder Program.

Building its expertise over the course of 15 years, SCOPE is renowned for its ability to forecast new visual trends; it provides a dynamic platform for international emerging art and multi-disciplinary creatives. In 2017 the fair will welcome exhibitors from a breadth of cities including AC Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires; NG Art Gallery, Havana; Mookjiart in Shanghai; and Thomas V. Meyer, San Francisco, as well as a large European contingent such as Galleri Ramfjord, Oslo; Lena Roselli Gallery, Budapest; Python Gallery in Zurich; The Public House of Art, Amsterdam; and BC Gallery, Berlin.

Amongst the line-up is Rademakers Gallery, Amsterdam, who will be showing images by Ernst Coppejans who, following a career in product design and styling, uses photography to tell stories of individual’s live. His concepts emerge from his own experiences and curiosity about the lives of extraordinary people; his portraits are often vibrantly lit with colour, texture and pattern. Also featured are the spacial paintings of Charlotte Hopkins Hall, represented by Laurent Marthaler Contemporary; Emmanuele de Ruvo’s radical constructions which draw on objects from the past from Montoro12 Contemporary Art; and Lamberto Teotino mixed media collages, presented by WeGallery.

SCOPE will launch with its Platinum First View on Tuesday 13 June; followed by the VIP and Press Preview 1pm-4pm, and Public Opening 4pm-7pm. The fair will run through to 18 June, and will be open 11am-8pm Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-6pm Sunday.

SCOPE Basel, 13-18 June, SCOPE | Haus, Webergasse 34, 4058 Basel.
