Welsh artist Yvonne Jones examines issues surrounding the body and the wider concept of humanity. Through paintings, videos and installations, she considers the interactions between inner and outer realms and the individualised condition.
Her video installation X/ordium, part of Sites of Conversation, was shown at The Winchester Gallery in the Winchester School of Art in July 2017, and contains images of everyday intrusive medical procedures.
Jones centres her work on the corporeal body, exploring issues of the post-human where the body is considered to be the original prosthesis. She has frequently used her own body to couple internal and external experience of a medical event.
Humanesense is her current project, developing her work through painting, video projection and installation.
