Phil Illingworth

Illingworth’s work frequently (occasionally with tongue-in-cheek) refers to art history: Portrait of a king in several different positions references Van Dyck’s Charles I in three positions. Arguably a precursor of Cubism, the artist enjoys its inherent dichotomies, reminding him of certain challenges associated with the medium.
