John Leighton

John Leighton believes that objects can trigger more than memories. The subject of his work, Burden, derives not from theories, but directly from the experience of losing his brother the day he purchased an antique wooden bucket on his honeymoon. He says: “Today that bucket overflows with the joy of our marriage and helps carry the burden of my loss.”

Burden, 2014. Cast glass, pine plywood, basswood, copper, manila rope. W 231cm x H 150cm x D 104cm.
