Jeanne Fries is a Canadian sculptor, painter and new media artist. Her work is concerned with the physical and non-physical expression of power dynamics in contemporary society. She believes in the necessity of art as a means of political activism and social commentary.
Within her practice, paintings serve as meditations on what later become sculptures and new media installations. Fries studied at the Glasgow School of Art and received a BFA with minors in Philosophy and Art History from Mount Allison University. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and is currently based in Portland, Oregon, USA.
