Moniker Art Fair, London

An installation based exhibition, the Moniker Art Fair, will be running in Shoreditch, Village Underground, from 11 until 14 October. Each artist takes up a designated space to showcase and advertise their work. Refusing to sit within the usual art fair format, each space will be individually curated, presenting creativity across the board. Moniker continues to develop the integration of contemporary and urban art worlds, giving guests exposure to a diverse array of artists.

Featuring a total of 15 project spaces, the artists are able to exhibit their work in their chosen surroundings. Guests can expect to see the works of Niels “Shoe” Meulman, art that fuses calligraphy and graffiti, next to Mark McClure’s abstract sculptures that celebrate discovered materials. Besides Meulman and McClure will be Casey Gray, whose paintings innovatively take inspiration from 17th century Flemish still life, urban culture and the visuals associated with electronic music.

Highlights of the fair will include a snapshot of the surreal world of artist, Nancy Fouts, who combines the three interests of nature, mortality and time to produce haunting images full of dark humour. Opening the mind of the viewers will be Fouts works, Electric Rocking Chair and Grandfather Clock. While artist Remi/Rough, will take over the entire back wall of the atrium with a two storey high installation that represents a sidewalk and an archetypal New York bus stop. Painting the building’s fascia, Remi will replicate the artwork he created for London’s largest mural on the megaro Hotel in Kings Cross.
