Jean-Christophe Recchia is a self-taught photographer based in Nantes, France. Having worked as a freelance illustrator for years, Recchia now focuses on the banality of everyday life, looking at the lines and forms of the urban environment.

An academic background in illustration can clearly be seen in the graphic representation of the city; the patterns, rhythms, colours and lines act as major components within the image, and incorporate tight, constricting frames, much like the border of a page.

Recchia touches upon an emotional richesse within the colours of the city – bright, blue corrugated iron and clean white expanded reach out to the viewer in an abstract, yet beautiful, rendering of the land.
