Internal Worlds

Internal Worlds

Sweden-born photographer Gabriel Isak (b. 1990) returns with Entities, a series inspired by existentialism. Featured in Aesthetica Issue 72, the practitioner uses the medium as a metaphor for experiences transcendent of the body.

The new body of work explores different personas, positioning abstracted representations of the self within surreal, barren landscapes. Dreamlike and anonymous, the faceless figures stand solitary and as part of a collective – seemingly suspended within ethereal planes.

Visualising a powerful journey of self-discovery, the series reflects upon the inner world of an individual – unraveling the unconscious mind in striking, blues, blacks, purples and whites.
