An Inspiring Collection of New Writing

The recently published Aesthetica Creative Writing Annual 2017 unites 60 international writers, both established an emerging, in an inspiring collection. The book celebrates the very best in contemporary poetry and short fiction, with subject matter ranging from love and loss to identity and family. Each work illuminates daily life in a new way, and invokes individual perspectives as well as global themes.

Poetry Winner: Ian M Dudley’s Fish and Chips
Ian M Dudley lives in Oxford. The poem Fish and Chips won the 2015 Oxonian Review poetry competition and is part of a sequence of poems called Business Class about work in a large multinational company. Ian is currently writing poems whose titles all begin with the words “A Box of.”

Fiction Winner: Christina Sander’s What Happens At The Edge
Christina Sanders lives in Brighton. What Happens at the Edge is part of a short story collection on the theme of compromise. Other stories in the collection have been published in the Bath Short Story Anthology, Rattle Tales, Litro and Toasted Cheese. Her work explores the borders between desire and eventuality.

The publication invites the reader into original narratives, each piece showcasing the possibility of language. It is a book to return to again and again. Winners and finalists alike demonstrate true innovation through a diversity of images and ideas that collectively stimulate, change and inspire.
