Idle Reflections

Idle Reflections
Ikuru Kuwadjima’s photobook, I, Oblomov, presents a visual re-thinking of the novel by Ivan Goncharov. A winning publication at The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography‘s Photobookfest 2017, the project investigates the post-Soviet landscapes of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Offering a series of self-portraits and interior photographs, Kuwadjima uncovers a strange state of inertia and lethargy that defines the contemporary condition.
