Formal Tragedies

Formal Tragedies
Opens today: Andreas Gursky’s Bangkok and Ocean VI series record the artist’s interest in environmental issues. The images reflect the tragic beauty of the world’s waterways, symbolising threats to earth’s natural resources on both a global and local scale. For example, the seemingly serene photographs of the Chao Phraya river reveal the toxic reality of pollution.
