Combining thought provoking imagery and stunning aesthetics, the Royal Geographical Society exhibit CIWEM’s Environmental Photographer of the Year 2013. Running 10 April until 3 May, the images are outstanding environmental, social and natural photographs by international photographers and filmmakers. CIWEM’s Environmental Photographer of the Year 2013 is an international showcase for the very best in environmental photography and video, celebrating both emerging and established talent.

With 3,000 entries the photographs were judged on impact, composition, originality and technical ability by the 2013 selectors; Nick Reeves OBE, Executive Director of CIWEM; Nick Roberts, Atkins Strategy Director; Dr David Haley HonFCIWEM, Senior Research Fellow at MIRIAD Manchester Metropolitan University & Visiting Professor at Zhongyuan University of Technology; and award winning documentary photographer, Adam Hinton. The selected pieces cover issues such as innovation, sustainable development, biodiversity, poverty, climate change, human rights, culture, natural disasters and population growth.

The works will be displayed at the Royal Geographical Society, London from 10 April – 3 May 2013, touring to Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre, Forestry Commission England, in Cumbria from 25 May –1 September 2013, culminating at CIWEM’s new headquarters, conference and members’ facility in Farringdon, London in Autumn 2013.
