Docks Art Fair, Lyon

Founded in 2007, Docks Art Fair celebrates its fourth year by taking up a permanent site. Since its conception, the event has become a centre for art lovers and this year it leaves its temporary structure and moves a few 100 meters to the south of the Sucrière, home to the Biennial of Lyon, at the tip of the Confluence. The new building is a steel and glass structure, lovingly planned by architect Odile Decq. Running 12 – 15 September, the new solid foundations of the event reflect the evolution of the fair as permanent feature of the contemporary art market.

For this edition, 32 specific projects, many produced by up and coming artists, are to be exhibited to collectors and enthusiasts. Among these projects will be a special partnership with the Lyon Higher National School of Fine Arts, a sign of the fair’s investment in the artists of the future. Uniting a range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, videos, art and installations, audiences will be able to experience many facets of the art world. Participating in the event are 40 international galleries, all presenting one solo presentation from a specially selected artist.

Docks Art Fair runs alongside the Biennial of Lyon in both location and time frame, turning Lyon into a centre for Contemporary Art this September.
