Thames & Hudson 100 Painters of Tomorrow Art Competition

Thames & Hudson has launched a quest to find the best of the next generation of painters. 100 Painters of Tomorrow opens for submissions on 15 January 2013. This ambitious new project, initiated by Kurt Beers, will culminate in a major publication that will introduce and present each winning artist and their work. Internationally advertised, the final book will  create a snapshot of the best new talent in painting across the globe.

Open to any artist who utilises paint as their primary medium, there is no age limit for entry but each of the selected artists must have gained professional recognition in the last five years (since 2008/9) through their education, gallery representation or in the production of a significant body of work. In order to help emerging artists, Thames & Hudson will be approaching 100 of the world’s leading art schools to nominate recently graduated students to submit applications.

Submissions will be judged by an international panel, featuring Cecily Brown, Sir Norman Rosenthal, Yuko Hasegawa, Gregor Muir, Suzanne Cotter, Suzanne Hudson, Philip Tinari and Barry Schwabsky. The 100 winners will be published in 2014, and the book will be accompanied by a major exhibition of contemporary painting at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts. The lavish publication will include over 300 colour images and will serve as an intelligent and definitive guide to the painters of tomorrow.

100 Painters of Tomorrow is open for submissions 15 January until 15 March 2013, www.100paintersoftomorrow.com
