Studio XO on Crane.tv

Studio XO is a revolutionary fashion label that pushes the boundaries between science and couture. Having designed for the likes of Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas, Studio XO experiment with wearable tech, digital skins and computational fibres – where your outfit changes at the brush of a hand. With NYC fashion week in full swing and London, Milan and Paris coming up, we look at some of the digital pieces that will be gracing future catwalks.

Studio XO, is run by creative director Nancy Tilbury and technology director Benjamin Males. The fashion laboratory creates ‘interactive wearable experiences’. They have recently created LED clothing for Azealia Banks’ tour, an electroluminescent dress for the Billboard music awards and have worked with Philips Lighting, Philips Design, Universal Music, The Wellcome Trust, ITV, EMI, Tord Brontje and Sir Clive Sinclair.

As well as creating these one off pieces Studio XO is interested in the future of wearable technology as a larger issue. They are hoping to release their own boutique line of clothing in the near future but they are essentially thinking about ways in which the entire fashion industry will adopt new technologies and believe that the industry is going through a moment of change similar to that of when the music industry had to adopt Spotify and digital music platforms.
