Rokas Darulis: Intimacy, White Cloth Gallery

For the first time in the UK, Rokas Darulis opens his first solo exhibition at the White Cloth Gallery 6 December. Laying bare the subject of intimacy, this unique exhibition showcases the Lithuanian photographers powerful imagery. His editorially strong fashion portraits have attracted the likes of the National Portrait Gallery, London, who displayed one of his images, Ernest and Ernest during the Taylor Wessing Photographic Prize 2010. At just 23, Darulis has already made his mark on the photography world, regularly leading fashion shoots for titles including Pravda and L’autre, the Observer and The Guardian Weekend, as well as working with leading model agencies, Elite and Storm, and photographed behind the scenes at London Fashion Week 2011.

Running for ten weeks, Intimacy will unveil some of Darulis’  most intriguing images. The collection deals with the close relationship between subjects and between the photographer and his photos. The models are often partially dressed, expressing a vulnerability and therefore a trust of the photographer. Capturing raw and natural beauty, the close up shots highlight the humanity of his subjects. As well as featuring the National Portrait Gallery photo, Ernest and Ernest, the exhibition premieres a new multi-media piece and a live catwalk show on 6 December. A ticketed event, the catwalk will showcase clothes from Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney, Acne and Helmut Lang.  Intimacy serves to be a celebration of Darulis’ growing acclaim and his stunning photography.

Intimacy, Rokas Darulis, 6 December until 18 February, 2013, White Cloth Gallery,  26 Aire Street, Leeds, LS1 4HT
