RECON Festival, Leeds and Bradford

RECON is a series of pioneering music, art and film events culminating 22 – 29 September across Leeds and Bradford. Bringing together  innovators, experimenters, risk-takers, mavericks and outsiders working creatively across the various genres, the event is a celebration of the expansion of boundaries in the artistic world. Including multiple sites and venues, activities will be held at The Brudenell Social Club, Howard Assembly Rooms, Hyde Park Picture House, The New Bradford Playhouse, Delius Arts and Cultural Centre, Wharf Chambers and also in the public domain.

RECON draws international artists to Yorkshire and works towards shining a light on the local underground, prompting new collaborations and work in the expanded and interrelated areas of music, sonic art and film. Highlights include The Diamond Road Show at Hyde Park Picture House and Oneohtrix Point Never (Warp Records) at Howard Assembly Rooms, both on Thursday, 26 September. Oneohtrix Point Never is the recording name for experimental musician Daniel Lopatin, and since his early records has always sought to build unique and richly complex landscapes of sound. Drawing to the end of the week, the Hyde Park Cinema will also play host to a special screening of The Mask 3D at midnight on Saturday, 28 September.

The event is the result of a collaboration between Lumen, M@BU and Room 237 in partnership with Leeds Film, The Brudenell Social Club, Cops and Robbers, Now Wave, Sheepscar Light Industrial, Leeds City Council, Opera North, Hyde Park Picture House and with generous support from Leeds Inspired, University of Bradford and Arts Council England.
