Prix Pictet at The Victoria & Albert Museum, London

Opening on 22 May, this year’s photography exhibition from the Prix Pictet will go on show at the V&A in London. The exhibition marks a collaboration between the Prix Pictet and the V&A museum, which was the first museum in the world to begin collecting photography as an art form. The show, which will feature eleven of the world’s leading photographers, is set around the theme of ‘consumption’ and will be on display to the public until 14 June.

The exhibition features the work of photographers from all over the world, with works spanning five continents. The photographs chosen for the exhibition will explore the idea of consumption in a modern global setting and will represent the award’s interest in highlighting contemporary social and environmental issues. The photographers featured in the exhibition are Adam Bartos (United States), Motoyuki Daifu (Japan), Rineke Dijkstra (Netherlands), Hong Hao (China), Mishka Henner (United Kingdom), Juan Fernando Herrán (Colombia), Boris Mikhailov (Ukraine), Abraham Oghobase (Nigeria), Michael Schmidt (Germany), Allan Sekula (United States), and Laurie Simmons (United States).

The Prix Pictet winner will be announced in an awards ceremony on 21 May and will be in receipt of the CHF 100,000 prize. The ceremony will also be attended by the shortlisted photographers featured in the exhibition and the award itself will be presented by former UN Secretary General and Honorary President of the Prix Pictet, Kofi Annan.

Jerwood Painting Fellowships 2013 Exhibition Announced

JVA will exhibit work by three exceptional emerging painters for the Jerwood Painting Fellowships 2013 from the 13 March. The Fellows are Anthony Faroux, Susan Sluglett and Sophia Starling.

Wolfgang Tillmans returns to Maureen Paley for his seventh solo show at the gallery. The exhibition, Central Nervous System, is both a departure from and a continuation of his Neue Welt project.

Running until 23 March, Gracjana Rejmer-Canovas’ Colour Into Liquid Air, encapsulates the artist’s energetic practice, who is a recent graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art.
