The series of contemporary art talks at the Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition concludes with a discussion led by Mark Doyle, Head of Collector Development North for the Contemporary Art Society. Topics discussed include the Contemporary Art Society’s aim to widen the appreciation and understanding of contemporary art. Join Doyle on Wednesday 4 June at York St Mary’s – York Art Gallery’s contemporary art space in the setting of the Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition, from 12.30pm. The talk is free to attend and open to all.

Organised by Aesthetica Magazine in partnership with York Museums Trust, the Aesthetica Art Prize is a celebration of excellence in contemporary art from across the world, supporting rising stars as they develop their career. The Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition features shortlisted pieces from artists in the following categories: Photographic and Digital Art; Three Dimensional Design and Sculpture; Painting and Drawing; and Video, Installation and Performance.

Artists featured in the exhibition hail from New Zealand, Chile, Italy, Germany and the UK with a further 92 longlisted artworks screened on monitors within the gallery. Longlisted artists represent artistic talent from locations including Taiwan, Canada, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands and the USA.

During the talk, Doyle will engage with the works on display as well as draw upon his knowledge and experience in the arts industry, presenting an opportunity to further your appreciation of contemporary art and the organisations which work to bring inspiring new works to a wider audience. The Aesthetica Art Prize runs until 22 June, and there is a chance to interact further with the works by voting for your favourite artist in the People’s Choice Award.
