Art Kaohsiung: Eliminating Borders

One of the largest and most prolific art fairs in Asia, Art Kaohsiung, launches its fourth edition from 9 – 11 December. Situated within Kaohsiung’s Second Pier Art Centre, Ponlai Warehouse and the City Suites, the fair demonstrates its ability to converge the platforms of South-eastern and North-eastern Asian art.

The Taiwanese fair has invited an eclectic array of galleries to exhibit, including the Korean Dong San Bang and Keumsan galleries, as well as featuring the Philippine Galerie Stephanie and Galerie Joaquin to name a few. With techniques ranging from contemporary sculpture and installation, to oil paint manipulation and Pop Art graphics, the fair will showcase of a vast curation of mediums from a variety of cultures, eliminating borders and celebrating interdisciplinary practice.

With strong focus on modern and contemporary art, Art Kaohsiung attracts some of the most ground breaking and innovative Asian artists. To attract bright investors, a spotlight VIP tour involving a series of salon events is targeted at thousands of collectors from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Korea. The fourth edition will draw out an art map of Kaohsiung, promoting a lively and creative outlook for the host city.

Art Kaohsiung is indicative of the art industry of Southern Taiwan. A successful relationship of three years with the Bureau of Cultural Affairs and Kaohsiung City Government has helped develop a concrete collaboration that is consistently seeking diverse and unique forms of artistic communication.
