Art for The World: FOOD, Geneva

Opening tomorrow at the Musée Ariana, Art for The World showcases FOOD, an international travelling art project. Running from 19 December until 24 February, the show is curated by Adelina von Fürstenberg and focuses on the connection between food and environmental concerns, looking particularly at the preservation of the plant, the choice of nutrition, the consequences of climate change, the poising of agricultural products and the food distribution gap. FOOD is made up of the art exhibition, a selection of short movies and a series of keynote conferences.

The two month exhibition will be presenting the works from artists including, Marina Abramovic, Cildo Meireles, Tony Morgan, Marcel Broodthaers and Joseph Beuys, and the short films will come from Jia Zhang-Ke, Murali Nair, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Pablo Trapero and the documentaries on Mesa Brazil, SESC Sao Paulo and on the Austrian collective Wastecooking. After Geneva, FOOD will move on to be presented at Spazio Oberdan in Milan under the patronage of Expo Milan 2015 in September 2013 and onto Marseille in October 2014 at MuCEM (Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée).
