Weetwood Hall on the outskirts of Leeds, plays host to an art conference offering eight speakers the chance to produce a convention that will cover the less familiar side of art. Examining the difference between artist intent and audience reception, Appreciating Aspects of Art considers how to define, curate and engage with art.

Running across four days, the event focuses on the art and architecture of Yorkshire. There will be the opportunity to listen to scholarly presentations on the socio-historical background of great Yorkshire names such as David Hockney, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, interspersed with opportunities to meet and be addressed by contemporary artists such as Margaret Harrison, 2013 winner of the North’s answer to the Turner Prize, and Kane Cunningham, who created a studio in Knipe Point Drive, a house falling down a cliff on the eroding coastline of Yorkshire.

During their time at the conference, attendees can explore the artistic riches of the area and attend guided visits which will offer the chance to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as well as The Hepworth, Wakefield. Although not until running August 2014 booking is already open and there is a limited number of spaces.
