Aesthetica Art Prize Open for Entries

The Aesthetica Art Prize 2013 is now open for entries, offering both budding and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider, international audience. Now in its sixth year the competition is a celebration of visual art, inviting all artists to submit imaginative and innovative work that pushes the boundaries of their chosen medium. Committed to nurturing new and existing talent, the Aesthetica Art Prize is a fantastic opportunity to develop your presence in the international art world. Prizes include up to £1000 in cash, a group exhibition, six months studio space, six mentoring sessions and editorial coverage in Aesthetica Magazine, which has a readership of 140,000 worldwide.

Previous finalists include Julia Vogl, who after winning the Aesthetica Art Prize 2011, went on to win the Catlin Art Prize and was shortlisted for New Sensations – Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4′s Prize – has exhibited at Zabludowicz Collection. Vogl describes the impact the competition has had on her as an artist: “It has been a terrific boost to my confidence, especially at a time where being an artist is fiercely competitive and hard to finance.”

Other notable entrants include leading modern expressionist and 2010 finalist Marcus Jansen, who joined a legacy of artists who have been featured in Absolut Vodka’s artistic campaigns; and Bernat Millet, finalist in 2011, who has also been shortlisted for National Portrait Gallery’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize. The 2012 main prize winner was Damien O’Mara, whose photographic exploration of male stereotypes caught the attention of judges.
