Aesthetica Art Prize Call for Entries Countdown: One Month to Go

Returning for its 10th year, the Aesthetica Art Prize celebrates excellence in art from across the world and welcomes submissions in a variety of mediums. As the month of August unfolds, we invite you, day-by-day, to explore a variety of artists and themes from the Aesthetica Art Prize in our countdown to the 2016 Call for Entries deadline. With one month to go, we outline the details of this year’s competition.

From Painting & Drawing and Photography & Digital Art to Three-Dimensional Design & Sculpture and Installation, Video & Performance, our wide-ranging categories incorporate a breath of singular and interdisciplinary practices. The Prize also encourages entries from both the UK and abroad; in previous years the award has garnered artists from locations as diverse as Australia, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and the USA.

Open to all levels, the Prize is an ideal platform for both emerging and established practitioners to showcase their work to a wider audience through the annual exhibition, accompanying anthology, online exposure and the recently established Future Now symposium. Our expert Judging Panel enhances the award’s position in the industry, bringing together specialists from leading cultural institutions to discuss works submitted to the Main and Student categories.

Previous finalists include John Keane, former official British war artist, currently represented by Flowers Gallery in London; RBS Bursary recipient Liz West; Julia Vogl, shortlisted for Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4′s New Sensations; Ingrid Hu, former designer at the Lubetkin-winning Heatherwick Studio; Marcus Jansen, a leading modern expressionist; and Bernat Millet, shortlisted for National Portrait Gallery’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.

Lastly, the award offers an impressive line-up of prizes including up to £5,000 courtesy of Hiscox, group exhibition, publication in 100 contemporary artists, £250 art supplies vouchers courtesy of Winsor & Newton and art books courtesy of Prestel. Selected artists are also showcased on Aesthetica’s online channels.
