The Aesthetica Art Prize 2016 is currently open for entries, presenting an opportunity for budding and established artists to showcase their work to a wider audience. The Aesthetica Art Prize holds talent development at its core, and alongside a shortlist of 10 artists and a longlist of 90 artists, it awards two winners, one for the Main Prize and one for the Student Prize, a number of prizes that will support their future projects.
The shortlisted artists will be featured in a group exhibition in sprin 2017. This presents an opportunity for artists to show their work to a new audience, and invites visitors to discover works across a range of disciplines including painting, photography, installation and film from around the world. Visitors will be able to vote for their winner in the People’s Choice Award, which is a fantastic accolade for the winner. The exhibition also presents the work of the longlisted artists on monitors within the gallery. The entire selection of long- and shortlisted artists are published in an anthology that accompanies the exhibition.
Out of the shortlisted artists for exhibition, the two winners are selected. The Main Prize winner will receive £5,000 courtesy of Hiscox. The company holds a major international art collection between its offices in the UK, Europe and USA. The Hiscox Collection consists of approximately 600 works, and includes Aesthetica Art Prize finalist Inés Molina Navea’s 541 días, a photographic series of five composite portraits. The Student Prize winner will receive £1,000 courtesy of Hiscox, presenting a great opportunity to further their engagement with the art world.
The winners will also receive books courtesy of Prestel and art supplies vouchers up to the value of £250 courtesy of Winsor & Newton. The shortlist will be featured in Aesthetica Magazine, a leading art and culture publication with a readership in print and digital of 284,000. The featured artists will also be promoted via Aesthetica’s online channels.
